Birds- I love them- there are so so many. So many varieties, shapes, sizes, colours- it is truly a wonder. And to think they can actually FLY!!!
We here in BC, where the landscape is shades of gray-green, gray-blues, and gray-browns which is reflective of our climate do not see the amazing plumage colours of tropical countries. Maybe you grew up in a place where the birds are spectacles of multi-colored air-born delight.
Regardless, our next project is a collage project,
What is collage you ask?
col·lage

Today I want you to think about “Bird”
What is ‘Birdness’ to you?
What are your memories of birds? Are they visual? Do you remember stories of birds from your childhood? Do you hold stories of Birds in your cultural history, mythology, or religion?
Please note. You may want to start in realism… but you sure don’t have to end there! In fact, because we are using collage I am hoping you venture out beyond your comfort level
Please note that I will have a variety of materials: Papers, materials, plastics, wood, metal, paint, inks, pastel, pencil, charcoal…etc You are also welcome to bring stuff from home.
Here are some examples:.
This class I simply want you to think through the project. Research online, and start a draft.
Work on the large green paper!
