Be sure you have reviewed weather, winds, and storms.

Be sure to hand in the (group assignments) Conduction Lab and Energy Transfer diagrams.

Research one article about the atmosphere. Use either the webcat database (webcat.vsb.bc.ca, username 39jo password library) or student.societyforscience.org resourse.

Submit a summary (one paragraph) of the article, along with the link to the article, article title and author.

Finish lab and submit for marking. 1 lab per group. Due Thursday.
Also submit the radiation, conduction, convection assignments by Thursday.

Albedo and Heat Islands: Choose a city (other than Vancouver) and compare the albedo of the urban areas to that of the surrounding natural landscape. Explain how this could contribute to the city as a “heat island” (see p. 461). Ensure that you demonstrate an understanding of albedo, and refer to the absorption/reflection of radiation, as well as insulation of infra red radiation.

Review and read sections 10-1 and 10-2 on energy transfer. Finish diagrams depicting radiation, convection, conduction.

Read Ch. 10 section 10.1.
Please send me the Science of Happiness study lab report, project proposal (be sure to include all group members’ names) and add any resources that you may come across to the resource page we are sharing.

Please finish the Positive Affect assignment and email me your lab report. Also, please add to the resource page an idea for further study on the science of happiness.

Refer to the Moodle site for the Science of Happiness short study instruction. Carry out the study and complete a lab report (hypothesis, procedure, results, discussion, conclusion, etc). Remember to use the positive affect scale before and after the activities, and record your resulting score.
