Work on the practice quiz on biological molecules and the biological mols review package (not for handing in). Study for the Safety/Scientific method quiz on 2 October. Have a good weekend!
Month: September 2018
Biology 11 2-1, 2-3, 1-2 and 1-3, 27-28 Sep 2018
Finish the chart of cell structures, and attempt the crossword puzzle on the reverse. Answer key will be on the blog this weekend.
Answer the questions “do plant cells have lysosomes?,” and read this. Write a short response to the question.
Complete the front of the microscopy calculations handout.
Study for the safety/scientific method quiz on 1/2 October.
Biology 12 2-4 and 1-4, 26-27 Sep 2018
Complete the biological molecules chart and submit for marking next class. Re-read sections of chapter 2, as needed. Be sure you can identify the biological molecules discussed from descriptions and diagrams. Study for the safety/scientific method quiz, 1/2 October.
Biology 12 1-4 25 Sep 2018
Prepare for the safety/scientific method quiz, 1 October.
Using chapter 2, complete the biological molecules chart/cell chart handed out last class. Sketch and label the basic monomer for each of the 4 groups of biological molecules (carbohydrates, lipids (neutral fat, phospholipid and steriod), proteins, nucleic acids). Also sketch the three polysaccharides starch, glycogen, and cellulose.
Watch this video on biological molecules again, and this one, too!
Biology 11 2-1, 2-3, 1-2 and 1-3, 25-26 Sep 2018
Review cell cycle/mitosis on p. 159 – 170 in textbook. Be sure you know the phases of the cell cycle (interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis) and of mitosis (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase).
Watch the amoeba sisters videos on cell cycle:
Study for safety/scientific method quiz, 1/2 October.

Bring the science review package to class. We will complete it next class.
The following was assigned on 20 September: Complete workbook pages xi – xiii (safety), and pages 2-3 (cells). Read textbook pages 116 – 124 (cells).
Safety/Scientific method quiz will be on 2 October. Prepare and study for it using the textbook, workbook, and notes.
Be sure to bring $10 deposit for the workbook, if you haven’t already.
Check out BC Earthquake preparedness (further to our drill and discussion in class).
Biology 12 1-4 and 2-4, 19 and 20 Sep 2018
Safety/Scientific method quiz will be on 1/2 October (depending on the block). Please prepare and study for the quiz by completing all safety handouts (3 most recent handouts), review completed assignments and complete the scientific method handout/crossword.
Complete the cell structure chart and attempt the biological molecules chart (to the best of your ability). Be sure you have done the assigned reading (chapters 1, 2, 3, and begin chapter 5 reading).
Be sure science review package has been turned in.
Remember to bring $15 if you wish to purchase the optional workbook.
