Read the 2 handouts on drosophila and complete these questions. Be sure you have completed the Phylum Arthropoda and 4 Sub-Phyla unifying characteristics. These are the features shared by the organisms in each of these groups, not just a list of example organisms from each group.
It is possible that there will be a quiz on the readings next class.
Finish the unifying characteristics of Phylum Arthropods, as well as the 4 subphyla (Trilobita, Uniramia, Crustacea, and Chelicerate). Just give point form information describing the main characteristics of each group.
Finish the drosophila diagram (labelled).

Study for genetics practice test (mostly chapter 9 and the problems we did in class, also read chapter 10) (Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 and 8 November, depending on the block).
Study for the practice test on Tuesday, 7 Nov (genetics). It will be based on chapter 9. Be sure you have read chapter 10, as well. We have covered some of the topics in chapter 10 (gene linkage, mutations), and you should review these by going over the chapter. Be sure to also go over the genetics problems we worked on together.
Please begin reading chapter 10, if you haven’t already. Continue to work on the genetics crossword for review.
Genetics practice test will be on 7 November, and the actual test will be on 15 November. No alternative dates will be given if you miss the practice test.

Please begin reading chapter 10, if you haven’t already. Finish reading of parts IV and V of the eye colour case study, and attempt the questions for both parts. We will discuss next class. Continue to work on the crossword for review.

Work on parts IV and V of the Eye Colour case study. Also, complete the genetics questions about the dog named spot, and the crossword.
Work on Part II More Than Meets The Eye Case Study (NCCSTS), answering questions 8-12. Bring to class completed and we will discuss them.
Ensure you have read chapter 9 and have a good understanding of the genetics covered so far, and begin reading chapter 10.
Finish the genetics questions (two-factor crosses) on the handout we have been working on. Read and answer the questions for part 1 of the case study “More than meets the eye.”
Retest will take place on Friday, 27 Oct. (2-2 and 2-4) and Thursday 26 Oct (1-1). No alternative date will be given if you are not present that day.
Read chapter 9 in the textbook. Work on the genetics problems 1-10 in the handout.
