Test Next week, Thursday 14 Nov 13, on Ch. 5 and part of Ch. 6.

Be sure that lab re-submissions are ready for next class, 5 November. Include the original, marked submission or the re-submitted lab will not be accepted. Please stable the first one to the re-submitted lab. Thank you.

Take notes on the the textbook sections given in class and finish the worksheet(s) on acids and bases.

Finish the Magnesium/Acid/Base lab and submit by Friday.
Be sure to include all the necessary headings and information required (Title, Purpose, Hypothesis, Materials, Procedure, Observations, Discussion/Questions, Conclusion).
In the discussion, demonstrate your understanding of the reactions, if any, that you observed, interpret the results and give the full scientific explanation (reactants, products, balanced chemical equation, etc). You should discuss any problems that occurred (did something not “work” and if so, what might have been the reason, or did something unexpected happen? If so, what and why?) and/or speculate on other possible tests that could be done, if you have any ideas on that (eg. “What would happen if…”?). Indicate the source(s) that you used to find this background information.

Finish Acids and Bases Lab and submit the typed lab report (either in Google drive or on paper) by next class.

Finish the Acids and Bases Lab. Be sure to write up a formal lab report including all the headings indicated in the lab, as well as your data table under the heading “observations.” Please attach as a separate page the list you compiled today in class of properties of acids and bases.

Review/read section 5.1 of the textbook.

Finish balancing worksheets and read the text section on balancing. Ch. 4 test will be on Tuesday 15 October.
