Read chapter 2 (which is partly covered by our chapter outline from last class). We will start working on microscopy soon, so please pay close attention to that section.

Read section 1.1 in the textbook, and p. 462 – 465 in the “yellow pages” at the back of the textbook.
Read sections 2.1 – 2.3 (molecules of the cell). Use the outline and summary found here. Use this resource and fill in the blanks while you read.
Use the handout to create a mind map/ideas map for multicellular organisms, their activities (see the chapter 1 handout/outline) and tissues (look up “types of tissues” in the text index). We will go over, add to, and expand on that in class, as well as complete the homeostasis mind/idea map.
There will be a safety and scientific method quiz on Monday, 18 September, 2017. Please review the handouts and work we have been doing on those two topics.

We will be using the four beam balance next class. Please look for and watch 2 videos on their use as preparation, in addition to the video watched in class. These are usually only a few minutes long.
Be sure that you review the safety and scientific method work that we have been doing, as there will be a quiz soon (date has yet to be determined).
