Read 7.1 and 7.2 in textbook. Do 7.1 in workbook.

Study for mid-year exam. Please see previous post for the sections covered.

You may bring one 8.5″ X 11″ notes page, single-sided, to the exam. It must be handwritten by you. No photocopying or printing allowed.  Be sure it meets these criteria or you will not be permitted to use it. The notes page must be handed in with the test.

Study for mid-year exam:  Chapters 1 (1.1 only), 4-6, 7, (and yellow pages at back of book).

Consider some of the ethical issues we discussed regarding Assisted Reproductive Technologies.  Answer the question: What are some concerns raised in relation to A.R.T.s, and what are their benefits?

Work on your studying for the test on Wednesday, 14 December and 13 December (period 1-4) (reproduction). Be sure you can answer/explain the following (from your course summary handout):

  1. How do cells multiply?
  2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of asexual and sexual reproduction?
  3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of internal and external fertilization?
  4. Explain/describe the following:
    1. asexual reproduction – mitosis
    2. asexual reproduction – 7 other forms
    3. sexual reproduction – meiosis
    4. sexual reproduction – human

Sections 6.1 in the workbook and reading in the textbook were assigned.

Poster on asexual reproduction due next class (section 5.2).

Make sure you and your group are ready to present (30 second – 1 minute) next class.

Poster must include title/topic, labelled diagram (big, clear), 1 – 2 bullet points (in your own words) explaining the type of asexual reproduction, references on the back, and names of group members on the front.

Be sure spider map, reading about mutations, and reading about asexual reproduction are all complete. Spider map and lab 5-1C were collected.
