Biology 12 1-2 26 Sep 2017

Please watch the following videos on your own time:

DNA and RNA: Bozeman Science part 1 (12 mins)

DNA and RNA: Bozeman Science part 2 (10 mins)

What is DNA?: Bozeman Science (10 mins)

Other videos to watch:

Nature of science, Bozeman Science (8 minutes)

Mitosis and Meiosis, Bozeman Science (13:40 minutes)

How to use a microscope (26 minutes)

Water: A polar molecule, Bozeman Science  (8:40 mins)

Using the information in the textbook, finish to the best of your ability the DNA handout Parts A to D. We will go over these together in class.

Continue your reading of chapters 2-3. Aim to finish these chapters (using the chapter outlines, if helpful) by 29 September (Friday).

Science handout: several students received this multi-page science handout from me. Please complete it and hand it in on Thursday, 28 Sep. Thank you

Biology 12 1-2 18 Sep 2017

Read sections 2.1 – 2.3 (molecules of the cell).  Use the outline and summary found here. Use this resource and fill in the blanks while you read. We will complete the homeostasis mind map in class.

Research the organelle you were assigned: Function of the organelle, general location within the cell, basic structure of the organelle. You will have a few minutes to get organized at the start of next class with your partner(s), and then will share the above information with the class (briefly, all group members must participate).

Biology 12 2-1 15 Sep 2017

Read sections 2.1 – 2.3 (molecules of the cell). Use the outline and summary found here. Use this resource and fill in the blanks while you read.

Use the handout to create a mind map/ideas map for multicellular organisms, their activities (see the chapter 1 handout/outline) and tissues (look up “types of tissues” in the text index). We will go over, add to, and expand on that in class, as well as complete the homeostasis mind/idea map.

Biology 12 2-1 13 Sep 2017

Finish Giraffe (Winning by a neck) handout/summary questions and hand in at the start of next class. Read chapter 1 in text. Please also complete the chapter 1 outline found here. Click on the link “Chapter Outline – 01.” This is from a different edition of our text but covers the same information.
