Work on the Fox and Rabbit (Predator/Prey) Activity graph (1 per group).

 

Continue studying for the mid-year exam (see earlier posts for the detailed topics covered).

Complete the nutrient cycle practice questions handed out in class.  These are for your own practice and will not be collected. See previous blog post for topics covered on mid-year exam. Chapters/sections include:

Chapter 1, 2, 5, 7, 13-15, 47, 48, 9-1, 9-2 (p. 190-193), 10-3 (p. 215-216) and genetics handouts/problems. Also, Appendix B and Appendix C in the reference section at the back of the textbook. Study all relevant workbook sections, as well as notes and handouts.

Study for mid-year exam, which will cover:

Scientific method, safety, microscopy, cells and organelles, Genetics, DNA, Evolution, Taxonomy and Ecology.

Complete the nutrient cycles and food webs handouts.

Finish the final questions in the Iguana case study and bring to class next time for discussion.

Work on the Ecology Crossword.

Study for genetics and ecology test.
Finish the ecological pyramid/distribution diagram assignment.

Test on genetics and ecology on 15 Dec 2015.
Sketch the logistic growth curve (p. 1034) and label the parts (A – E), indicating what is happening and what factors are affecting the population size at each stage.
Complete the nitrogen and water cycles on the notes page using p. 1025, and also study the other nutrient cycles (carbon, etc).
Refer to other parts of chapter 47 and 48 for this unit.
Read about ecological pyramids (ch. 47) in preparation for next class.

Test on Wednesday, 16 Dec on Genetics and Ecology.
