As given in class, the chapters on the mid-term exam are: 1,5,7,9,10,13-15, as well as fruit flies and other material covered in class (articles, case studies).

Optional: you may bring a 8.5″ X 11″ NOTES PAGE to the exam, ONE-SIDED, hand-written, not machine printed or photocopied.

Biology 11 1-1, 2-2 and 2-4, 15 and 16 January 2018

Finish the Elephant Evolution worksheet and hand in. Read the two articles (rove beetles and corn evolution) and do a “close reading” according to the instructions given on the article handout. Be prepared to discuss the articles. They will be included on the mid-year exam.

Complete the “little mito” case study and answer all the questions.

Study for mid-year exam, which will be on 25 and 26 January, depending on the block. It will cover all the sections we have done in the course.

You are allowed an optional, one-page, single-sided notes page to bring with you to the exam. It must be 8.5″ X 11″ or smaller, hand-written, not machine printed or photocopied.

Biology 2-2 and 2-4 28 Nov 2017

Complete the grasshopper lab and submit at the beginning of next class. Be sure you have written the name of your group member whose lab has the grasshopper parts attached. Write “please see ____________ (name)_______’s lab” in the tables 1 and 2.

Finish Drosophila diagram and label it. Be sure it is detailed and of high quality.

Label the head, thorax, abdomen, compound eye, wing, sex comb (if present), bristles, any other anatomy that is visible and that you can recognize.

Title the drawing and underline the title. Indicate whether the specimen is a male or female. Include your name, block, and the date.
