Biology 11 Martin 1-4, 2-1, 2-2 1/2 March 2016

Please give the progress report to parent/guardian, and return signed copy to me next class (Thursday for 2-1 and 2-2 and Tuesday for 1-4).

Research the bacterial infection/disease that you were assigned, according to your group numbers for the jigsaw activity. For example, if your group was numbered “1” and you worked on Moneran question “1,” then you will research number 1, below. The bacterial infections/diseases are:

  1. Rocky mountain spotted fever
  2. Tuberculosis
  3. Impetigo
  4. Legionnaire’s disease
  5. Botulism
  6. Anthrax
  7. Diptheria

You will need to research an outbreak of the disease/infection, when and where it happened, who was infected/became ill (eg. elderly people, children, etc), symptoms, mode of transmission (how they became infected; eg. person-to-person, drinking contaminated water, bodily fluids, etc), effects on those infected and on the community, and what species (scientific name) of bacteria causes the disease/infection. Be sure to include references cited.

Be sure to read the sections of workbook and textbook (ch. 17) on Monerans.
