Science 10 2-3 Martin 7 March 2016 and 1-1 8 March 2016

Lab Write-up for Activity 10-1A (p. 425 in text) is due at the start of class on Wednesday, 9 March and Thursday, 10 March, respectively.

The report must:

  • Be typed (12 font, Times New Roman) and printed/stapled before class, ready to hand in at the start bell (8:40 am)
  • include the first and last names of all group members (max. 4 persons), date and class period
  • Include Title, introduction, purpose, materials, procedure, data/observations, “what did you find out questions,” and conclusion
  • include underlined headings/subheadings
  • reflect the changes to the materials list and procedures that we made in class

Modifications:

  • Materials: omit the lamp; add one 250mL beaker, 100mL warm water, paper towel
  • procedure: instead of using a lamp to heat the water, thermometer was put into cold water first, and then warm water
  • “What did you find out” questions:
    • Question 1 (a)  should read “when you put the thermometer in the cold water”
    • Question 1 (b) should read “when you put the thermometer in the warm water”
    • Question 3: Omit

Home made car is due Monday/Tuesday. Be sure it meets the criteria outlined in previous posts.

Science 10 1-1, 1-3, 2-3 Martin 10-12 February 2016

Work on the practice problems for the test (Monday and Tuesday, depending on the period), that will cover chapter 8 and the first part of chapter 9 (position, displacement, motion, velocity, acceleration). We went over all the answers in class today. Use the second set of practice problems to study for the test. You may check the key, which is available in the classroom, before the test.

Science 10 1-3 only: videos are due on Wednesday, 17 February. They must be submitted/shared electronically to jsmartin@johnoliver.ca by 8:30 am on 17 February. A loss of marks will be applied to any assignments received after that date and time, and if the assignment file name does not include the group members’ names and the assignment title.
