Circulatory system reviews – please ensure that you have completed these and used them as you see fit in your learning for this section.

Circulatory system questions – please complete and submit for marking on 3/4 April:

  1. What type of blood vessels are there? discuss their structure and function.
  2. Trace the path of blood through the heart, mentioning the vessels attached and the valves within the heart.
  3. Describe the cardiac cycle (using the terms systole and diastole) and explain the heart sounds.
  4. Describe the cardiac conduction system and ECG. how is ECG related the the cardiac cycle?
  5. What type of blood vessel is the blood pressure highest? lowest? why? why is this beneficial? what assists venous return of the blood?

Read sections 16.1 and 16.2 in the text (excretory system) if you haven’t done so already.

Complete the anatomy of the kidney and nephron handout and submit for marking on 4/5 April.

Circulatory system test will be combined with excretory system test.

Biology 11 8 March – 2 April 2019

Complete the labelled diagrams assigned from the textbook: Clam, grasshopper, seastar, and earthwork anatomy. These are due 2/3 April, if not already handed in.

Charts on the mollusks, echinoderms, arthropods and annelids were assigned and are not to be handed in, but you are expected to know the relevant material.

Read p. 606-627 and complete the reviews on p. 616, 620, 621 and 627 (28-1 to 28-4, inclusive). Pick up the handout “anatomy of the grasshopper/crayfish” and complete, using the textbook. Due 4/5 April.
