  1. Goal Setting– 3 paragraphs, double spaced
  2. The Warm Fuzzy Tale” – Rough work – 2 most important lessons from the story AND 3 ideas that you could pledge this year based on what we learned from the story
  3. You will be writing based on your rough work, so if you don’t do your rough work, you will be behind and will have a harder time in class.
  4. $15 for LANGUAGE POWER

    1. pg. 5 – Finish your outline for Jrnl #1. 
    2. pg. 7-8 – Double- spaced – Jrnl #1– My 5 Values & Reasons & Where from – 1st Draft.  Use your outline to write a paragraph. This is a first draft, so I don’t expect it to be perfect.

ENGLISH 10 -1.4/2.2

HOMEWORK: Due Mon/Tues

  1. Review the writing handouts I gave you for your 3 paragraph journal response.
  2. In a notebook – double spaced- do Journal #1: What is personal identity?  What are your top 5 identifiers & why?
    1. Identifiers = ways you identify yourself: age, religion, gender, culture, job, personality, physical appearance, social circle, family, heritage, interests, strengths, etc.
    2. Writing Structure: Paragraph 1: Discuss personal identity. Paragraph 2: discuss your 5 identifiers & why they’re important to who you are. Paragraph 3: Conclusion
    3. Here are some videos to help.  You might need to pause and/or watch them a couple of times because they are asking some big life questions and are pretty deep.  We will be discussing the ideas in class.   3. Start to review the narrative terms handout.  Look back to the sheet you did before- know, don’t know, etc. Start with the terms you don’t know.

HOMEWORK: Due Thurs/Fri

  1. The Hangman” all poem questions
  2. Read & highlight – Biography of Martin Niemoller AND Historical Context pkg
  3. Notebook- we will be writing journals for each chapter of the novel and throughout the year, so get a notebook for ALL of your journals (80-100pgs). I DO NOT WANT JOURNALS ON LOOSE LEAF PAPER.
  4. START reading the novel. I will be giving you the questions pkg soon & it will make your life easier if you’ve read some of the chapters already.

  4. NOTEBOOK1. Set up your Table of Contents  2. Create your title page (p.1) – My Values & Writing – 3. Pg. 3BRAINSTORMJournal #1: My top 5 Values. Why they are important & where I learned them from. Add to your list of values/beliefs. Choose your top 5 – circle or star them – and write some reasons why & where for each.
