  3. Book Review – use  Canva & make a 8.5 x 11 poster for a book. Look back at your reading log to see what you read & choose a book that you read this term that you really enjoyed. The OBJECTIVE of this poster is to…
    1. ATTRACT an audience/ENGAGE people to look at it
    2. Provide INFORMATION about the book so they have an idea about what it’s about (Title, author, basic plot, interesting elements like setting, character, conflict, etc.)
    3. CONVINCE the audience who stopped to read your poster to READ the book
  4. GOALS writing – 3 paragraphs DOUBLE SPACED, in PEN or TYPED
    1. Paragraph # 1– Reflect on term 1 and your Sept goals
      1. What did you and did you not accomplish & why
      2. How does that make you feel
    2. Paragraph #2 – Look to term 2
      1. 9 goals total – what are your 3 academic, 3 extra-curricular, and 3 personal goals for term 2
      2. Explain WHY for EACH goal
    3. Paragraph #3 – Make your own sunshine; be your own cheerleader
      1. write a message of encouragement, motivation, and inspiration to yourself to accomplish your goals

  1. TKAM – Worksheets –
    1. Themes worksheet – write at least 4 examples – one for each theme
    2. Character Sheet – add at least 4 traits for different characters – Miss Maudie, Aunt Alexandra, Scout, Atticus, Jem
    3. Conflict sheet – add at least 4 examples of conflict  – person vs. society (gender, race, class, age, education, etc.) person vs. self, person vs. person.

  1. NIGHT – Journals
    1. All journals #1-11 are due (completion)
      1. The instructions are on the top of the journal topics page: Numbered & titled, double-spaced, GOOD DISCUSSION of the topic, min. 1 page (approx. 200-250 words), paragraph structure, and peer shared.
    2. Good Copy Journal – choose 1 journal from the 11 that you wrote.
      1. Edit and improve the journal based on the peer share info and your own writing skills (Intro, topic sentences, evidence/examples/explanation of ideas, transition words, etc.)
      2. Typed, double -spaced, MLA format
        1. How to do MLA format
        2. MLA Format
    3. World Issues Action Plan Project – have some work done on the presentation

  1. World Issue Action Plan Project – 
    1. Do more research
    2. Have a plan for your presentation. Your OBJECTIVE: to convince the class & then Students’ Council to support your World Issue & Action Plan. METHOD: create a 3- 5 min presentation that is both INFORMATIVE and ENGAGING so that it persuades your audience.
    3. Be creative. Be prepared. Use a variety of techniques including emotion/empathy, relatability, evidence, responsibility, likability, creativity, shock, clarity, clear call to action, etc.
    4. You will be presenting your issue to the class the first class back after winter break.
    5. The chosen group for each class will be presenting to Students’ Council at an after school meeting the 2nd week back.
