  6. Good copy – Movie Review – use the book review handout, but write about 1 of the 2 Reel Canada Film Fest Movies

  1. The Metaphor” – compare & contrast essay GOOD COPY : typed, double spaced, MLA format!  Click on the English 10 tab above for MLA set up AND follow it!!!
  2. REEL Canada Movie Review – Pick 1 of the 2 movies you watched during Film Fest to write your review.  Use the handouts and information provided on Tuesday during exam week to write a rough copy review. You will edit it in class on Jan. 31st.

  2. LP Unit #2 test after exam week!  So start reviewing and studying NOW!
  3. Technology readings handout – read, highlight, write notes while you read, THEN do the after reading exercises & Qs.  You should have AT LEAST 3 thoughts/reactions to each reading. Don’t forget the BACK PAGE!

  1. Lit Circle Reading & Role sheet #4- Remember that you need to have your novel done by the latest Feb. 3rd or 6th, so you will have enough time to work on your projects.
  2. Essay – p. 102 – “The Hurricane” – Qs: Style – #1 & Discussion – #2-3
  3. Fill in your Socratic Circle sheet for “The Hurricane”
  4. Essay Journal #3 – Discuss how war/conflict can continue to “injure” or “kill” people long after it is over.

ENGLISH 10 – 1.3/1.4

HOMEWORK: Due Thurs

  1. Take all of your “baby steps” resources for “The Metaphor” – mom & Ms. Hancock character traits & evidence, compare & contrast handouts & notes, LP lessons, AND your detailed outlines and write your body paragraphs.  You need to decide if your compare & contrast writing body structure: Block – 2 paragraphs or Point by Point – 3 paragraphs.  Make sure each of your body paragraphs has a clear topic sentence, good supporting details – examples, quotes, reasons, etc., transitions words/phrases, etc.
  2. Your body paragraphs should be IN PEN and DOUBLE SPACED.  You MUST bring your writing next class.  
  3. Read over the handouts on intros/conclusions.  You will be writing your intro & conclusion next class, but if you want to get started at home, that is a good idea.  Remember to include what is needed for a good intro/conclusion.
