AND the quiz needs to be public so we can access it.  You can create an account just for this and then remove it after Monday’s test. 🙂

ENGLISH 9 – 2.1

HOMEWORK: Due Wed

  1. LP Unit #1Test – Jan 12th. Make sure you know the difference between and definition of synonym, homophone, homograph, contraction, etc.  
  2. Poetry Terms Quest – Wed – Use your flashcards & the purple terms sheet to study.  You will have to give some definitions, identify terms/devices used in lines of poetry, and explain different types of poems.
  3. Poems pkg – Wed will be your last group session with the poems, Be sure you’ve read them all, looked for & marked poetic devices being used, and written some notes on the package itself so you can just use class time to discuss, share, and understand the poems.

  1. Identity Project – presentation – follow the instructions here ===> Personal Identity Project. Yes you can (and should?) have notes/cue card for the presentation.  I will be evaluating your oral communication/presentation skills: VOICE- loud, clear, expressive, good pacing BODY: eye contact, expressive, but not distracting use of hands or body.
  2. Finish your independent reading book & be prepared to share your opinions of it in class on Jan. 11th
  3. Identity Unit TestJan. 15th
  4. Test prep Kahoot Quizzes – You were given 2 readings & were asked to come up with 10-15 Qs from those stories looking at narrative techniques and themes as a way to prep for your unit test.  DUE ASAP! or Jan. 9th.

  6. FYI – These links may not work because of your age!  Arjun just informed me that you can’t make your quizzes public if you’re under 16 (which is a great safety measure that I wish applied to all social media!).  But please give them a try and if they don’t work, we’ll figure it out in class. But PLEASE do send me your links anyway so that it’s hopefully easier in class because I’ll have all the links.

  2. Flashcards – for all poetry terms.  I will be checking them for completion & you will be allowed to use them for an activity in class

  4. Poetry – Poems package – read all the poems and make notes & find & mark poetic devices on the sheets

  1. Good copy of your Identity Project journal1. discuss your definition of personal identity 2. Select 5 major influences on your identity, explain and discuss with examples (ex. gender, race, culture, upbringing, schooling, etc.)  Multi-paragraph, double-spaced, 250-350 words, Times New Roman, 12 point font – MLA set up of paper – click here ===>  MLA Format info
  2. Identity Project Presentation – Jan 9th
  3. Kahoot – You and your partner(s) need to create a 10-12 Qs Kahoot quiz for the 2 readings you were assigned. Think of questions that I would ask on your test.  Use your quizzes & story Qs to help come up with good questions & accurate answers. -Jan. 9th – Please send me the link to your Kahoot as soon as you create it.  I will post them on the blog for everyone to try out.
