ENGLISH 11 – 1.2/2.2

HOMEWORK: Due Jan!

  1. Have all your story journals complete & edited.  You will be writing a good copy of one – perhaps you want to do it over break when you have more time…??
  2. Lit Circle books – read the book you signed out! FINISH IT!

   Dec 15

ENGLISH 9 – 2.4

HOMEWORK: Due Friday

  1. LP #68-71
  2. Journal #4 – Should people be rewarded for their effort? Do you agree more with Confucius – end results & natural abilities only – Or more with Dickinson – that trying and the effort you put in is a measure of success?  Whichever you choose, make sure you can provide good supporting details to PROVE your position.  Fill in your paragraph planning sheet & use it to write a proper paragraph.  Make sure to use the writing techniques from the LP lessons (ts, pee, transitions) in your response. DOUBLE SPACED.  IN PEN!

   Dec 14

ENGLISH 10- 1.3/1.4

HOMEWORK: Due Thurs

  1. The Metaphor” – p. 215 – Read, do Qs. #2-6, fill in story map & reading quiz
  2. Journal #2 – Coming of Age: peer pressure – write a short response to Q #9 as your journal entry

   Dec 12

ENGLISH 9 – 2.4

HOMEWORK: Due Wed

  1. Values pkg – Read & highlights & do Qs #1-2 – “Should you be rewarded for effort?”
  2. Journal #4 – in an INformal (double space & use pen, but don’t worry about structure) response consider what you think – do you agree with Confucius that only the end result matters?  Or do you agree more with E. Dickinson that effort & trying is more important?  Use the reading & Qs to help you come up with your opinion.  Consider yourself too!  Are there things that just come easy to you and others that you have to put in a lot of effort for a limited result?  Should you be marked or rewarded for how hard you work?
  3. Now use your ideas in your INformal journal to fill in the Paragraph Structure sheet.  Write in a topic sentence (ts) and supporting details (PEE) like we practice in LP.  Make sure your ts is clear and states your topic and make sure your PEE supports your ts.
  4. We will be debating/discussing this topic next class, so make sure you have an opinion and good reasons why you believe what you believe!
