ENGLISH 8 – 1.4/2.3

HOMEWORK: Due Wed/Thurs

  1. LP $15 & signed forms & all supplies (Must Haves)
  2. Notebook – if you’re buying one from me ($0.50), please come before class to purchase it so we don’t waste class time.
  3. Learning Commons Quiz
  4. Setting Pkg – Read & highlight key info for the story “Autumntime” AND do Qs #1-4 Recalling on a separate piece of paper.  Try your best to answer each question completely, BUT leave a least 1 blank line after each question to add to your answers.
  5. Flashcards – you will be starting to use them, so go get some.

ENGLISH 11 – 1.3/2.2

HOMEWORK: Due Wed/Thurs

  1. Learning Commons (LC) session quiz 
  2. Identities” p. 7-11 – Story Notes, Group Qs, Reading Quiz
  3. You will have some time at the start of class to consult and organize with your group and then ALL groups will be sharing their answers with the rest of the class.
  4. Journal notebook – get a notebook (regular paper size) that you will be using for your journal responses. I don’t want loose-leaf pages for your journals.

ENGLISH 9 – 2.1

HOMEWORK: Due Tues

  1. LP $15 & Forms
  2. NOTEBOOK (we’re going to start using it) and all supplies for class
  3. Values” p.9 – read the page, highlight key info, AND note down your thoughts, reactions, questions/answers onto the page.
  4. Watch these videos BEFORE reading & keep it in mind while reading “Values”. You might need to pause and/or watch them a couple of times because they are asking some big life questions and are pretty deep.  We will be discussing the ideas in class.   1. Forms signed & LP $15
  2. NOTEBOOK & FLASH CARDS & all other Must Haves – We will be starting to use the flash card and notebook, so you need to get them or you can buy a notebook from me for $0.50.
  3. Setting Pkg – read, highlight story “Autumntime” and DO Qs #1-4 “Recalling“. Do the Qs on a separate piece of paper. At the top write your name/date/block/title, in pen, try your best, leave a line or two after each questions so you can add to your answers in class.

HOMEWORK: Due Friday/Monday

  1. Pretest terms corrections – in a bright, obviously different colour
  2. Read and note down any Qs you have for the Identity Project Sheet AND the Lit Circle Sheets
  3. Reading Pkg – read the poems – make notes, high light, comments, questions, etc. in the package

ENGLISH 11- 1.3/2.2

HOMEWORK: Due Mon/Tues

  1. Read & highlight “Critical Reading of Short Stories” pkg & Narrative Presentation handout
  2. Read story – “Identities” p. 7- 11
  3. Fill in the first Story Notes sheet for “Identities” – NOTE FORM
  4. Do specific Qs for the section you & your group were assigned. Each group member should attempt to do all the group Qs (do not just divide the Qs), so that in class, as a group, you can piece together the best, complete answers that you will then be sharing & presenting to the class. If you were absent – Ankit find a group of 4 to join and do that group’s questions. Madjik – you’re in Group #3 with Kemuel, Rosh, Joshua & Kelvin.  You’re looking at pg. 8-9, paragraphs #6-7 & the Qs.
  5. Bring a notebook (spiral min. 80pg) that will be dedicated to ENGLISH.  You will be starting your personal journal responses.

  1. First Day Self- Reflection – Late! Was due in class.
  2. Handouts – read & have Course Outline signed to show me
  3. Terms & Devices List (green) – read through & highlight all the NARRATIVE terms only. Then follow the instructions on the back and categorize each term by filling in the chart. You can use the Narrative Terms (yellow) to help you fill in the chart.
  4. Get all of you supplies for class – pens, pencils, highlighter – you NEED to get a notebook (80 pgs min.) dedicated to English
