HOMEWORK: Due Tuesday

  1. Start reading TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
  2. We will be in the Learning Commons on Tues & Thurs so you can gather information for your projects.  I have attached the list of presenters & topics.  Find your name & get started on your research.  Remember, I am asking for a min-movie – mostly visuals, so in addition to the key facts, you need to start gathering pictures & videos on your topic.===> TKaM Social Context 2018 Presenters List

  4. TKaM- Social Context Presentations – Due after Experience Week – Mon/Wed. Feb. 5 & 7th.

HOMEWORK: Due Monday

  1. Sonnet Pkg – go through your sonnet & make sure you understand it.  Mark it up!
  2. Read through all of the other sonnets, and try to decipher them. Write some notes.
  3. Review your poetry term!  You’re going to have another quiz – Friday!

  1. “One Friday Morning” – read, HIGHLIGHT, do Qs.
  2. TKAMSocial Context Project – Go through the list of topics AND do some research to decide which topics interest you the most.  Then on a slip of paper, write your NAME & BLOCK, and write – in order of preference – your TOP three topics. Write the topic number as well as the full topic itself. 
  3. REALLY IMPORTANT! Because of the numbers of students I have this year in my 2 Eng. 10 classes, I have had to make some adjustments to the topics and the options. 
    1. PLEASE NOTE the changes: Topic #29: Current Artist-Activist: will be divided into 2 different topics.  So NOW #29 Current Artist-Activist: Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Beyonce, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.  New #30 Current Artist-Activist: Miguel, Lauryn Hill, Joe Budden, Jesse Willams.
    2. PLEASE NOTE the changes: In addition to the ** topics (#1,6,7, 8, 9, 17, and 28) that can be duplicated (1 person in each class), the following topic #s can also be done in BOTH classes: #3, 5, 10, 15, 18, 19, 21, 24, 29, 30.  All of these topics can be presented in both classes- as in 2 students, one from each class, can choose the above topics.

  1. LP #21 & Compound Sentences worksheet
  2. Notebook: p. 20 Character types & p. 21 Types of Conflict – label each flap & write the definitions in on the inside.  Glue or tape each square into your notebook. (Character: Major/Minor & Protagonist/Antagonist & Round/Flat & Static/Dynamic AND Conflict: Person vs. Self & vs. Person & vs. Society & vs. Nature)
  3. Narrative Terms Quiz – use your flashcards & your notebook to review all of your narrative terms
  4. Bring your independent reading text OR on a slip of paper, write down the Title, Author, & Genre.
