  1. Could It Really Happen? Assignment – you will be sharing your research assignment ideas with the class. You must have your information TYPED or in PEN double spaced. You should present it in Questions & Answer format – #1a, #1b, #2, etc. 
  2. You CANNOT do any of the following future tech ideas because students have ALREADY done them: 
    1. Sophia the Robot
    2. AI-led automatic device
    3. Super fast trains (760km/hr)
    4. NeuroLife chip
    5. Hoverbike
  3. Your Final Assessment – Themes and Story Connections will be due on THURSDAY. You will need to write your answers in PEN. You need to write the title of the story you’re connecting the theme to and then explain, specifically how the story connects directly to the theme.

This is your draft to try out new techniques and ideas & to make mistakes with your ideas. YOU MUST TRY to write it, so you can learn from the issues and improve upon it.

  1. Group Theme – you WILL be PRESENTING your group theme poster, so you MUST come with all of your ideas ready to just WRITE them onto the poster. You are trying to connect your 1 theme to each of the 5 stories & the 2 poems.  
  2. Could it Really Happen?DUE! You need to type or write (pen, double space) your info for each of the elements.
    1. You can write this in “question/answer” form – ex. #1a, #1b, #2, for all 4 Qs/requirements. 
    2. You will be presenting/sharing your info in small groups and handing in the written work. It would be helpful to have a simple picture or print off of your future tech, if it’s possible.

ENGLISH 11 – 1.1/2.4

HOMEWORK: Due Wed/Thurs

  1. Safegaurd Your Lives” – Finish questions (#1-3; 2-3; 2 & 6). Prepare to debate Q #6 – Should Canada continue to trade with China despite it’s terrible human rights record?
  2. Action Narrative
    1. Research & find an event that you could write about (see requirements). Watch videos of it & take notes just like the author Jan Wong did for her piece. You will be taking your notes to write this final written assignment. The better the notes, the easier it will be to write.
    2. Requirements for Action Narrative – You must include the following: Sense imagery & strong word choice; time & place transitions; climax; narration, description, examples. 
    3. Some examples/ideas to look up & watch:
      1. Riots – Ferguson, Charlottesville car attack, Canucks riot, Civil Rights protests, Apartheid protests,  etc.
      2. Disasters – Hurricanes, earthquakes, cyclones, Notre Dame Fire, BC Wild fires,  etc. 
      3. Sporting events – March Madness, Stanley Cup playoffs, World Cup, school games
