ENGLISH 11 – 1.2/2.1

HOMEWORK: Due Wed/Thurs

  1. Review narrative terms (blue handout) for a pre-test 
  2. Critical Reading of Short Stories handout – read & highlight key info
  3. Click on Eng 11 tab above for info on the Narrative Devices Presentations.  I will give you a copy next class
  4. Get familiar with the text – Inside Stories III
  5. Get your journal notebook & bring it to class!

ENGLISH 10 – 1.3/1.4

HOMEWORK: Due Wed

  1. LP $15 ($10 if you want to buy it used) & get your journal notebook & supplies for class
  2. Start to look up the meaning and origin of your name (how did you get your name)
  3. Journal #1 – What is personal identity to me?  Multi-paragraph – intro/body/conclusion, in pen, double spaced, titled, good discussion, about 1 page.

HOMEWORK: Due Mon/Tues 

  1. $15 for your Language Power grammar workbook – bring in asap!
  2. Read over the course outline and “must-haves” sheets with your parent/guardian and have it signed
  3. Get all your MUST HAVES & Flashcards/index cards
  4. Read over and familiarize yourself with the blue Narrative Terms sheet & make your name tag
  5. Block 2.1 – Library info quiz – make sure you review & bring the 2 sheets you got when we went down to the library for a quick quiz

HOMEWORK: Due Tues

  1. $15 for your Language Power (LP) workbook
  2. Get your course outline read & signed by your parent/guardian
  3. Get your MUST HAVES
  4. Complete the Shakespeare worksheets (click on Eng 9 tab above, scroll down to the bottom for Shakespeare links or use WEBCAT)
  5. Study & review what we have checked from the sheets because you’ll have a Shakespeare and his time quiz on Thursday!

ENGLISH 11 – 1.2/2.2

HOMEWORK: Due Mon/Tues

  1. See previous post – review terms, and watch video
  2. Complete and review info from the Library sheets on plagiarism, summaries, paraphrasing, citations, and JO’s Databases. (Worksheet – Topic: Human Nature/Behaviour; Use of Information: Why do we behave the way we do? Why are we the way we are? Instructions: Find a website that has information/article on this topic and fill in the worksheet to practice how to paraphrase correctly.  Google search: human nature or behaviour AND psychology or philosophy.  You don’t have to paraphrase the whole article if it’s really long.  Choose a section or several paragraphs so you get the practice and have some ideas to share in class.  Make sure you CITE your source!)
  3. Quiz on the library/Plagiarism sheets and info
  4. Get all your supplies for class including a notebook for your journals/writing (An 80 page book in sufficient)

  4. Quiz – Review info about plagiarism, paraphrasing, summarizing, databases, login, etc. that Ms. Walks talked about.
  5. Keep researching ideas for your own personal definition of identity.  Prepare to discuss and defend your ideas. (Google search: identity + social science or identity + philosophy)
