We used ray boxes today to construct a ray diagram (due Tuesday April 19th) of a plane mirror, reflecting light and measuring angles and becoming more familiar with a protractor.

The video on how to do this (above), is also found on moodle (s-moodle sommerfeld or go to TEAMS to see the 7 min video), or google “how to draw a ray diagram plane mirror”.

No other homework.

PS Please bring your own protractor to class TUES!!! April 19th

We wrestled with Chapter 5.1, light acting like a particle and studied via reflection and refraction. The law of reflection states i = r or better said, the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. And for refraction, just as in the Bill Nye video, light passes from air into more dense water and bends (refracts).

Please remember to bring a protractor.

No homework, except to keep in mind, Big Exam, May 10 (chapters 1-6).

Cheat Sheet: one side of one page, 8 1/2 x 11″ (normal photocopy paper size, one side only!). Go through the review sheet and all the stuff that’s tough to memorize or you think would be helpful (including diagrams) goes on there!

We did a simple single substitution found in Find Out Activity 6-1A, page 257. The sheet with all the What Did You Find Out answers are due Wed April 13th.

Reminder, metals replace metals, non-metals replace non-metals. The practice problems (p 259 and on) will be super helpful in practicing the six reactions types. Can you identify the reaction by looking at it? Remember, answers to these questions are in the back of the green textbook, page 592 and on.
