Today, log into Moodle

Use the information from the Nervous System unit and the internet, and your textbook, to answer the following 2 questions in point form:

  1. Rank the following drugs in order of most detrimental to least when considering brain function:

alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine (ice), and fentanyl (under designer drugs).

Briefly explain why you ordered them, with a couple of points for each drug.

2. What part of the brain would you be most concerned about affecting with any of the drugs in Chapter 17. Please explain.

Block 2.4 due Friday May 4th

Block 1.1 due Monday May 7th

REMINDER: Playland forms and money due this Thurs May 3rd.

Science 8 Chapter 7 Test (Density)

Block 1.2 Thurs April 19th

Block 2.1, 2.2 Friday April 20th

Please remember: there will be a “layering” question.

In the Density Mystery experiment you did (p 266 and 267) you had to predict, and then measure, the density of 9 items. Layering them meant putting the item most dense, at the bottom, the least dense, to the top. Watch the youtube video to help you out with the concept of Density!!!

We’ll be starting the Nervous System soon, no test on this unit. There’s an Excretion test, then Reproduction will be included in the Final Exam, in June.

Rise of e-cigarette use among teens

“At age 19, residents of British Columbia are allowed to smoke or vape in certain public areas and cannot be refused medical treatment under any circumstances.”

1.) Construct a paper discussing this age limit, and the difference between smoking and vaping, and their effects on the human body.

2.) Then conclude your paper with your opinion on whether the medical system, being publicly funded, should pay for a lifetime of smoking and their related debilitating illnesses. We’re looking for a good argument here, and your final verdict.

500 word/2 page minimum, typed, hard copy.

Sophomores, typically 15 years of age, second year of high school.

For the debate: research both sides of #1 and #2 above and be ready to debate next class.
