Odyssey/AP Mini School Program

The assessment test for grade 7 students will take place in the school cafeteria on Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.  If a student’s application package was submitted by Thursday, December 18th, 2025, the student is registered to write the assessment test.

To prepare for the assessment test, students are required to bring:

• pencils
• erasers
• red pens
• blue pens
• No calculator is needed

Parents and guardians are NOT allowed in the assessment venue.  Grade 7 students will enter through the cafeteria entrance (East parkade – located on Commercial Street) and will be seated by our volunteers.  We recommend that students arrive by 3:15 PM to settle into their seats, as we will start promptly at 3:30 PM.

The DT Odyssey application for the September 2026 intake is due by Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at 3 PM.  The VSB is aware that some families may be experiencing difficulties downloading their child’s learning reports from SpacesEdu or schools that are releasing learning reports on December 19th, 2025.   DT will be accepting learning reports up to Friday, January 9th, by 3:30 PM.  Please submit physical learning reports to the main office (labeled with the student’s name so that the report will be filed with their application package).

Application packages must be received to hold a spot for the assessment test for your child.  Assessment tests will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, in the school cafeteria.  All applicants will be sent an email with the details.  Please check your SPAM/Junk email for the notification.

The DT Odyssey program info night is held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 6 PM in the auditorium.  The best way to reach the auditorium is to enter through the school’s main entrance (on 55th Avenue). Odyssey students will be welcoming you at the doors.  The other doors may be locked by the engineers.

If your family cannot attend the information night, please visit our website, where you can find information about the program, application procedures, application forms, and important dates for applying to our mini school program.  If you have questions, your family can contact us by email at dtodyssey@vsb.bc.ca, and we will get back to you!

Spring Newsletter!

Grade 7 Odyssey interviews have concluded and the DT Odyssey committee enjoyed meeting and chatting with the grade 7 students.  An invitation email will be sent to 28 students in the first round of acceptance on  February 26th, 2025, at around 9 AM.  More information to follow in the upcoming weeks.  Thank you for everyone’s support!

The time has arrived to complete your DT Odyssey program application!  Check out below and on the application webpage for more info.

VSB Mini School District Registry:  Students must register in the registry from November 17th to December 19th, 2024.  Students will still need to apply directly to each of the mini-school programs with their school applications.    Please continue to check the VSB Mini School website and the DT Odyssey website for more information.

School Application Deadline:   Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 3PM.  Only completed paper application package will be accepted.  The office will not be assisting in handling and completion of the package during drop off.

Student Assessment Test:  Friday, January 10th, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in the school cafeteria.  Student will bring pencil, pen, eraser, and ruler. The completion of assessment test is mandatory for the completion of the application process.

Student Interviews:  Only selected applicants will be invited by email to the student interview taking place on Monday, January 27th, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 12 PM in the school.

Grade 6 and 7 Report Card Submissions:  To complete the student application package, the submission of the final grade 6 and December’s grade 7 report is required (paper copies only – no email submissions).  Report cards issued by the public, private, and district learning schools/institutions are accepted.  Homeschooling report cards are not accepted.

Notification of Acceptance:     First offers on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, by e-mail, and second offers on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, by e-mail.

The students have settled into their new courses and we are ready to share information with our incoming grade 7s!

DT Odyssey Info night is at 6 PM on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, in the DT auditorium.  Enter through the school’s main entrance to access the auditorium.  Odyssey students from grades 8 to 12 will be available to answer questions and share their experiences with everyone.  The program coordinators will share information on application procedures and answer questions
