What is Dry Ice?

Let’s do these:
- Make the queen scream – hold a warm coin against the flat dry ice (can also use a heated spoon)

- Drop a chunk into a cup of water. What is the difference between warm water and cold water?
- Add some soap into the above. Collect it in your hand.
- Take a warm coin and stick it into the dry ice on edge. Watch the ‘ghost’ vibration.
- Brain Bulge – put dry ice into a bowl of clean water. Rub soap around the rim. Attempt to make the layer of soap be a thin film across the rim by drawing a soap-soaked cloth across it (so the gas is trapped under the layer). Eventually, it will burst.
- Use a Erlenmeyer flask to inflate a balloon.
- Put a little dry ice and water in a film canister. Run.
- Extinguish the fire.
- Freeze a bubble of soap by touching it on the edge of the ice.
