YWCA Dating Safe Program

All Grade 8’s at John Oliver Secondary will be taking part in a pilot project offered through the YWCA called, Dating Safe. Ms. Matheson’s 1-3 class will start Wednesday, November 13th. A letter was given to students and sent home November 5th which includes detailed information regarding what topics will be covered in this new program.

The learning standards of PHE are to improve student’s physical literacy, healthy and active living, social and community health, and mental well-being. The components of the BC Provincial core curriculum guiding PHE which will be covered in the Dating Safe program are:

  • Healthy choices influence our physical, emotional, and mental well-being
  • Healthy relationships can help us lead rewarding and fulfilling lives
  • Advocating for the health and well-being of others connects us to our community

If you have any further questions, or did not receive the letter, please do not hesitate to email me. I can also send home or email home the letter in translation.
