Welcome back!

Welcome back!

Another school year is here and what are you going to do about it?

Are you prepared to learn, have you set goals, and how are you going to make the most of the year?

So much to learn so little time. It starts with a plan and then you have to set your course, but above all it is up to you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Look through the website and teacher blogs to vital info.

Start the school year off right and good luck!

Web 11

You blogs are due next Thursday.

In your blog, you need to include screen shots of your work, discuss and reflect upon them.

1. What did you work on with what software?

2. How would you change the work you have to created to improve upon them?

3. What did you learn through the process?

4. What would you like to learn more of?

5. Next year, the course is going on-line and self-paced. Is this something that interests you and why?

6. Link some of your favourite sites and discuss why?

7. Look up HTML5 and tell me what that means for the web and developers.

Please submit your URL for your blog by comment.

Web11 – February 24th, 2010

Sorry folks!

I am away this afternoon.

Once again, your flash site is due.

End of term is near or rather here…make sure all your assignments have been handed in to avoid getting an “I”.

I will have your preliminary marks next week just in time for you to negotiate.

I love negotiations, that is the social studies teacher in me, but you have to formulate a great argument and come with supporting evidence.

Those students that requested extra percentages owe me double so you need to be working extra hard to receive your “A’s”

For term III, we will be focusing on CMS and your respective sites. This needs to be a thorough process and steps will be provided to help you plan for effective deployment of your content as well as presentation.

If your group is already here, you need to be discussing roles and duties to help speed up the process. Also, some things to consider are:

1. Colour scheme

2. Graphics

3. Themes

4. Number of pages

5. Responsibilities

6. Media

7. Presentation

You always need an editor to ensure that your content is grammar and spell checked and as always appropriate.

DP11 – February 24th, 2010

Go Canada Go!!!

End of term is near or rather here…make sure all your assignments have been handed in to avoid getting an “I”.

I will have your preliminary marks next week just in time for you to negotiate.

I love negotiations, that is the social studies teacher in me, but you have to formulate a great argument and come with supporting evidence.

*Don’t forget to update your Flickr portfolio as it is your culminating assignment and will be assessed as part of your year end grade*

As we move into term III, there will be more emphasis on Photoshop CS4 and retouching photographs. I have placed tutorials in the s:/ > Handout > Su_DP11 > Tutorials.

You will find these videos valuable as you hone your editing skills. There will be projects attached to these video, but for now please feel free to watch the video to gain insight into the power of Photoshop CS4. If you wish and is recommended, you can copy the videos onto your USB drives to view at home.

From now on, you will need to bring your own head phones.

Mini 8s

By now everyone should have registered for my blog…but only three has. The beauty of technology is everything is date and time stamped so I know exactly when things are done or assignments handed in.

Today, you will need to organize you groups…no more than 5 per group. Please sign up your groups with my TOC. Choose wisely as your group with remain the same for all activities until the end of the year.

Once you have established your group, you can do one of two things or both.

1. Explore the tutorial panel of the Mindstorm NXT software installed on the laptops.

2. Research you project assignment on FFL.org.

As I value your ability to research on your own – a skill you will need for the future, I will only say the you need to find “Smart Move” and a pdf called “your project”.

Be good to my TOC.

Remember to shut down the laptops and put everything.

DP11 – Register for Digital Photography 12

I am very exited to announce that we will be offering Digital Photography 12. There is no prerequisite for this course as we will be reviewing many concepts learnt in DP11. Also, we will be getting studio space with studio lights to help you expand on your photographic skills. Furthermore, we will continue building your technical skill with Photoshop CS4.
