Library Book Exchange and Book Bags

Division 12 has started our book Tuesday book exchanges with Ms. Geri! Every Tuesday, Division 12 will visit the library and have the opportunity to exchange a new book. The kindergarten children will start with borrowing 1 book a week.  Later on in the year, as the children get accustomed to the routine of returning and borrowing books, the number of books the children may borrow will increase.  Besides our Tuesday in-class exchange time, the children may also choose to exchange their books before and after school.  The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:40 – 9:00 am and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 3:20 pm for book exchange.

The children have been given personalized book bags to use for book exchange. They may keep the bag for the year and put all borrowed books in the bag. Lost bags will cost $7 at the end of the year.

Show & Tell Schedule

Show and tell will begin on Monday for Division 12.  Please help remind your child the night before their show and tell day to choose something to bring to school for show and tell.  Please remind them that it could be anything they choose, but to keep their toys at home.  We look forward to hearing about all the special items and treasures that Division 12 has in store for us!

The Kissing Hand

Division 12 had a wonderful first week in Kindergarten.  We were very brave and had lots of fun with our new teachers and new friends.  We read the story, “The Kissing Hand” and even got a “kiss” to take home.

It’s my first week at school, and “The Kissing Hand” is what we read.

It’s about a raccoon who did just as his parents said.

Like the raccoon’s first day at school, I was scared and a little shy.

But because of what you said, I was brave and I got by.

All through the year, I’ll make more things for you.

So as I change and as I learn, you can see my growth, too!
