LET’S BE A “NUT-AWARE” CLASS COMMUNITY!

Did you know that some people in our school have life-threatening allergies to nuts?

What triggers a reaction can be different for each person.  While some folks react when they ingest nuts, some react from touching surfaces that have traces of nuts.

An outright “ban” on nut products would be impossible to enforce, given we don’t know how snacks and lunches are made/prepared for every single student in our school.

So as a classroom teacher, I simply encourage families to refrain from sending nut products out of consideration for those who do have life-threatening nut allergies.

As a class, we will also emphasize the following to avoid cross contamination:  NO sharing food ever, no matter how tempting it is!

Collectively, we can make a difference by making sure everyone feels safe at school.
