Science

All Mini School students take Science 8, 9, and 10 with Mr. Lau where enrichment can come in the form of inquiry projects involving digital products or using data sets to plot graphs, as well as additional materials taken from senior units.

  • Grade 8 – Follows the Science 8 curriculum and includes concepts on: matter, energy and waves, the cell and body systems, and plate tectonics. Enrichment opportunities may include digital inquiry assignments, virtual labs and simulations, and use of mathematical models typically found in higher grades.
  • Grade 9 – Follows the Science 9 curriculum and includes concepts on: sexual and asexual reproduction, electrical energy, sustainability, and chemistry. Enrichment opportunities include virtual lab modules, digital inquiry leveraging A.I. technology, and data analysis and graphing.
  • Grade 10 – Follows the Science 10 curriculum and includes concepts on: chemical reactions, nuclear radiation, conversation of energy, and Mendelian genetics and evolution. Enrichment opportunities may include focus on mathematical models and concepts used in Life Sciences 11 and Physics 11 as well as inquiry projects leveraging AI technologies.

Grade 11s and 12s have the options to enroll in:

  • Life Sciences 11
  • Anatomy & Physiology 12
  • Environmental Sciences 11/12
  • Chemistry 11 and 12
  • Physics 11 and 12
