Important Dates for VDSF 2024

  • Monday, Jan. 22 → student online registration opens at 12:00:00 AM
  • Wednesday, Feb. 14 → student online registration closes at 11:59:59 PM, e-mail notification of project status (accepted or waitlisted)
  • Friday, Feb. 16 (district pro-D day) → final e-mail confirmation sent to all applicants; accepted projects to receive further instructions
  • Tuesday, Feb. 20 → deadline to submit VDSF 2024 participant forms by 11:59:59 PM (check VSB e-mail for links)
  • Monday, Feb. 26 to Thursday, Feb. 29 → VDSF 2024 virtual judging on Microsoft Teams
  • Friday, Mar. 1 → VDSF 2024 in-person fair at Langara College
  • Saturday, Mar. 2 → VDSF 2024 closing ceremony (location TBA); list of finalists posted
  • Tuesday, Mar. 12 → GVRSF 2024 registration due

NOTE: Students are expected to attend both in-person and virtual judging for VDSF 2024.

Beyond VDSF: Regional and Canada-Wide Science Fairs 

 

GVRSF

April 4 – 6, 2024 | AMS Student Nest, UBC Vancouver

VDSF finalists advance to the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair, one of thirteen regional fairs in BC/Yukon. GVRSF is a three-day event and participants include public, independent, and home-schooled students from Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Port Moody, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Gibsons/Sechelt, Powell River, and Squamish/Whistler.

 

Canada-wide final - Réseau technoscience

May 11 to 18, 2024 | Ottawa, ON

Grand prize winners at the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair continue on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair, the largest annual STEM event for youth in the country. Established by Youth Science Canada in 1962, CWSF is a weeklong event that brings together top finalists from over 100 regional fairs in the country. In addition to judging sessions and public exhibitions, these students also attend scientific, cultural, and social activities. Awards range from medals, cash prizes, scholarships, and invitations to overseas competitions.
