John Oliver Secondary Music Program Travel Framework
At John Oliver Secondary, our music program is proud to offer enriching travel opportunities that grow with our students. Each year, junior music students (Grades 8 and 9) will have the chance to participate in a specially designed trip that alternates annually between two exciting Canadian destinations: Victoria or Banff. These trips are thoughtfully curated to be both affordable and educational, equipping students with the foundational skills, confidence, and experience needed to thrive in future senior-level music tours.
The junior trips focus on building musical excellence, teamwork, and independence in a supportive environment. By alternating destinations, students are exposed to diverse cultural and musical experiences, ensuring a well-rounded foundation during their early years in the program.
In years when the junior trip is to Victoria, senior music students (Grades 10–12) will have the opportunity to embark on a separate senior music tour—typically an international experience. These senior trips are designed to challenge and inspire students at a higher level, offering performance opportunities, cultural immersion, and lifelong memories on a global stage.
