If you have had one year experience playing in beginner band this course is for you! We will advance our technique and performance on our chosen instrument, play in festivals and community events, learn to work as a team and have FUN doing it! Intermediate Band members are also encouraged to join Jazz Band.
Students may take this course a second time to help grow their skills and prepare them for Senior Band. For example, students can take intermediate band in grade 8 (if they had experience in elementary school) or grade 9 (after taking beginner band) for the first time and then take it again in grade 9 or 10. In the second year, students will be encouraged to be a leader, be an example for their peers in their section and lead sectional rehearsals when the opportunity arises. This role is called a “section leader” and you will have support from your Senior Band Section Leader to develop your own skills on your instrument and within you as a leader!
