Philosophy and Movies

Project Presentations start October 16th

All groups must submit their projects on October 16th regardless of when they are presenting

Philosophy and Movies Project hints:

• Groups must analyze, compare and contrast the two movies beyond just the surface.  Dive deeper into the philosophical ideas presented, symbolism and affects of the ideas/philosphy on what is portrayed on screen.
• Do a bit more research into the ideas of the movies.  Is the movie based on a literary work? Previous movie? Do the makers of the movie have an agenda?

Philosophy in Movies Project:  due Oct 16th

• Block 2-4: must submit on Oct 16th
• Blocks 1-2 & 1-3: must submit on Oct 17th
• regardless of when your group presents during the week
• submissions may be made via email or USB

Philosophy Vocabulary List

• definition must be complete and comprehensive, you may add a link(s) or videos for enrichment purposes
• the end of your entry you must cite your source...use  EasyBib MLA8 format for simple formatting of your source
• you must add in your first and last name and block you are in at the very end of the entry in order to receive credit
• for now you are limited to only two entries
• check the HW Blog to see when Socials 11 are allowed to make more entries…more entries means more credit towards term grades

Ashland Philosophy Project

• Choose two topics from the following list:  Brainstormed topics list
• Write 500 words for each topic.  I am not looking for perfect essays, but a discussion  and how you argue your points.  Use the points we have learned about from the Crash Course video…How to argue.
• It should be double spaced.
• Due Sept 25th

Research some movies that deal with some of the topics on the list
