Assignments and Resources

Mid-Point debrief so far…

Common issues to be aware of:

  • Technical difficulties…make sure you are able to run your presentation slides off your device or device provided…probably best to have it on USB, back up with email to yourself to download just in case, and have in on the cloud as well.
  • Everyone should have a copy of it on their own USB…just in case one person doesn’t show up…you can still present.
  • You must know your info well enough to have consistent eye contact with the audience!  During the presentation do not read off paper, card, computer or screen!  Face the audience, do not turn your back (or side) to the audience.
  • Speak loudly and enunciate.  Try not to mumble.
  •  If pronunciation of names, places etc are an issue or students whose first language is not English…find out the proper way to pronounce the words!  Practise, practise, practise!!!  The more you practise the easier it should become.
  • Have an introduction or a “hook” to get the audience engaged and listening.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • VISUALS!  Most presentations tended to be text heavy!  Need visuals!  (make sure you properly cite where you are getting your visuals from!)
  • Text on screen need to be legible from back of room…be mindful of font and size and colours used!  You want your information to be easy to read.
  • Don’t forget a properly formatted citation list!  EasyBib or ask Ms. Walks in the LC for help
  • Rehearse the full presentation with your group!!!  The presentation needs to be 5 minutes minimum.
  • Practise, practise, practise!!! Don’t forget to take slow deep breaths!  You will get though it…

Remember to hand in:

  • a print copy of your presentation for Mrs. Kwon as well as email a digital copy (email to pkwon@vsb.bc.ca)
  • digital copy of your infographic (email to pkwon@vsb.bc.ca)
  • a print copy of your citation list

Rubics for marking are on Moodle…read through them so you have an idea of how you and your group is going to be marked!
