CREATING AND PRESENTING:

• The Creative Process: Students will apply the creative process to create a variety of artworks, individually and/or collaboratively;
• The Elements and Principles of Design: Students will apply the elements and principles of design to create artworks for the purpose of self-expression and to communicate ideas, information, and/or messages;
• Production and Presentation: Students will produce artworks, using a variety of media/materials and traditional and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques, and demonstrate an understanding of a variety of ways of presenting their works and the works of others.

REFLECTING, RESPONDING, AND ANALYSING

• The Critical Analysis Process: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the critical analysis process by examining, interpreting, evaluating, and reflecting on various artworks.
• Art, Society, and Values: Students will demonstrate an understanding of how artworks reflect the societies in which they were created, and how they can affect both social and personal values.
• Connections Beyond the Classroom: Students will demonstrate an understanding of and analyse the requirements for a variety of opportunities related to visual arts.

FOUNDATIONS

• Terminology: Students will demonstrate an understanding of, and use the correct terminology when referring to, elements, principles, and other components related to visual arts.
• Conventions and Techniques: Students will demonstrate an understanding of conventions and techniques used in the creation of visual artworks.
• Responsible Practices: Students will demonstrate an understanding of responsible practices in visual arts.

Daily Supplies needed

• Writing utensil (pen, pencil and eraser)
• Sketchbook
• Other art materials deemed relevant at the time of the assignment
• Supplementary course fee $25.00 paid by the end of September

Policies and Procedures: 

• Create a Positive, Respectful & Safe Environment.
• Students are challenged to be open to a variety of different materials, artist and ideas.
• Assignments must be handed in complete and on time to obtain mark.
• Student attendance, punctuality, and participation essential for grade.
• Students are responsible for making up missed work, obtaining class notes and completing missed assignments. Marks will be deducted for assignment handed in late.
• Materials in the class are to be used with respect. Failure to use materials and classroom studio respectfully will affect responsibility mark.
• Attendance is important and will be recorded each period. If you are away you must provide a written note within 1 week of the absence.
• Cheating and plagiarism – please see your agenda for the policy on academic honesty.
• Classroom behaviour – students must demonstrate a mature and respectful manner towards their peers and teacher.
• Devices: Student cell phones and other devices must be put away (in a bag or locker) during class time. Using technology in class may sometimes be deemed appropriate by the teacher. Students must ask the teacher for permission to use their device. Students who are reminded to put their device away and do not will have their device taken for the remainder of the class. If the student continues to be distracted by their device, it will be given to office staff to be addressed by the administration.
