Bocce ball on a sunny day!
On Tuesday, Dec. 5th we ventured outside to play bocce ball and basketball. It was a lot of fun!
GTA Student Participates in Culture Crawl
Kage participated in an art installation called ‘Uplift’ that was part of the Eastside Culture Crawl last weekend. People wrote things that uplifted them on tags that were then attached to helium balloons.
Kage said he helped by filling balloons with helium and cutting ribbon.
Kage says he likes the balloons the best. He wrote the names of his dogs on his tag.

Library visit
On Oct. 17th we went to the library. Students did things like get a library card, search the catalogue, get an online account, check out books…
Vancouver By-Election 2017
The Gateway students went to City Hall to vote on October 10th!
A City of Vancouver Clerk gave us a tour of the third floor and the Counsel Chambers.
Keep on voting! There’s provincial and federal elections, too!

Hello!
Our blog site is up and going. Thanks to MJ and Jessica for their help! We will post updates and photos about our time at Gateway. Enjoy!

Voting at Gateway
As part of the Self-Determination curriculum, we are learning about adult rights and responsibilities like voting in elections. Students created a voting booth, ballot box and ballot. We had classroom votes like choosing trips we would like to take into the community.
Students created a PowerPoint presentation about the elections and we practiced voting for a City Counsellor and School Trustees.
