DW:  Go back to your very first DW on February 1st (topic was Poetry)…now that we have done a Poetry unit this semester.

Reflect/respond on what you wrote on February 1st.

We are now officially working on essay writing.

Three similarities common to “Fish Cheeks,” “So what are you anyway,” and “Paper Menagerie”

OR

Analysis of a short story or your choice (“Ruthless,” “The Open Window,” or “The Dinner Party”)

Aim for at least 1000 words.  Not a problem considering most students are pretty much already close to this with the three paragraphs written so far.

You will have class time each day to work on the essays.  Laptop cart has been booked.

Essay will be due Friday, May 13th.

Continue on with second common topic/idea based on “Paper Menagerie”, “So what are you anyway” and “Fish Cheeks” Venn Diagram  AND rework and improve the first paragraph handed back today.

OR

Write a paragraph based on the one story you read this week (“Ruthless”, “The Open Window” or “The Dinner Party”).  You should pick out at least three topics based on your analysis of the story and come up with evidence for each of the topics. (Examples:  The importance of setting in the story.  How symbolism is significant to the story.)  Then choose one topic to write about for your story

*In your paragraph remember to give a thorough explanation of your topics as well as specific examples/evidence from the story to back up your topics.  Also include quotes directly from the story that exemplifies your topic.
