YouthPolitik 2011

YouthPolitik 2011: the full semester
March 17th to June 9th 2011  |  every Thursday evening (4:30-8:30)
+ a few extra special events on other days

A civic education & youth leadership development program for Vancouver residents ages 15-20 brought to you by the City of Vancouver

What is YouthPolitik?
YouthPolitik is the City of Vancouver’s civic education & youth leadership development program. The next full 3½ month long semester will take place from March 17th – June 9th 2011. The program is FREE and dinners are provided. During the semester, 80 young Vancouverites (like you!) take part in weekly Thursday evening sessions (plus a few extra special events on other days). Together, they explore how local governance works; discuss important issues facing our city; enhance leadership skills; role-play City Council, Park Board and School Board; and meet & work with elected officials, City staff & other community leaders.

Why should I apply?
Want to find out what it’s like to be the Mayor? Want to try out being a City Councillor, Park Commissioner or School Board Trustee?
Concerned about issues in your school, the challenges newcomers face, urban housing, homelessness & poverty?
Want to learn more about arts & culture, parks & recreation, urban sustainability and creating inclusive communities?
Nervous about speaking in public? Want to learn to network like a pro? How to interview like a seasoned journalist?
How about how to develop a project proposal, mobilize community support, and fundraise?
Want to be part of an incredible network of inspiring young citizens like you from all over Vancouver?

If so, then please apply.
If you are between the ages of 15-20 and live in the city of Vancouver, we encourage you to apply at  www.vancouveryouth.ca/youthpolitik

THIS PROGRAM IS FREE
