Enrol yourself into the appropriate Moodle course!

  • JO-Virtual Learning: Social Studies
  • Make sure you properly identify yourself (first and last name) when typing in your email address.
  • You must have the enrolment key in order to enrol.  See Mrs. Kwon if you do not remember the enrolment key.

Dos and Don’ts

  • DO come to class prepared and ready to learn.  DO bring your books and supplies.  DO have your assignments completed on time.
  • DO participate in class.  DO ask for help.
  • DO take responsibility for your marks.
  • DO stay organised!  DO use your agenda.  DO access the HW Blog and  Moodle
  • DO manage your time wisely.
  • DO study on a regular basis.  DON’T cram last minute.
  • DO be respectful of the classroom and classmates.  Limit food and drink to the first few minutes of class; use the garbage cans; there is a sink available for washing up and for drinking water.  DO bring a water bottle.
  • DO turn off your phones and other electronics.  DO take hats for for the class.
  • Students will not be allowed out of class privileges…so DO visit your lockers and washrooms before or after class.

Social Responsibility mark for Term 3 – due June 10th

Any student who is involved in a school or community organization that is making a positive change in the community during Term 3 (March – June) is eligible for Social Reponsiblity marks that will be added in with your Term 3 grade.

To be eligible you must write a short letter detailing:

  • the name of your organization or club you are involved in 
  • the name of your supervisor and contact information (phone number or email) — (if  it is a school club or organization please have the sponsor teacher sign off on your letter to verify your participation)
  • how this organization is making a positive difference in our school or community
  • how you are making a difference – specifically, what have you done?
  • your commitment (how many times a week or how many hours you have completed)
  • when you submit you letter, make sure you have your full name and block at the top of the letter!  

The letter is due this Friday,  June 10th.  You must hand in the letter to Mrs. Kwon in person by 3:07 pm.

FINAL EXAMS and Provincial Exams:

Textbooks collection:

  • Textbooks must be handed into Mrs. Kwon in person in room 113
  • you must return textbooks at least 45 minutes before your exam starts     
  • (Socials 8-that means you must hand in textbooks before 7:45 am!)
  • you will be issued a “Lost Items Fees Owing” form during the exam if you do not hand your textbook in
  • cost of textbook is $85.00!!!      (the cost to replace your lost textbook)

Things to bring to your exams:

  • pens, pencils, erasers (more than one just in case!)
  • picture ID (Go-card)
  • optional:  watch, calculator, ruler, snack & water

What not to bring to your exam:

  • Textbooks!  Must be handed in already…see above
  • electronic devices ( you will be asked to leave them on the floor or at the front…the school does not assume any responsibility for lost or stolen items)

Socials 8 Final Exam:

  • Thursday, June 16th
  • 8:30 am – 9:30 am
  • in the Gym
  • Test will be all multiple choice (80 MC) = 10% of Final Grade
  • Chapters to study:  Chapters 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9

Socials 10 Final Exam:

  • Thursday, June 16th
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
  • in the Gym
  • Test will be all multiple choice (100 MC) = 10% of Final Grade
  • Chapters to study:  Chapter 1-10

Socials 11 Provincial Exam:

  • Tuesday, June 21st
  • 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • in the Gym
  • Test will be in two parts:  Selected Response (55 Multiple Choice) and 2 Written Response Questions (2 essays) = 20% of Final Grade
  • Units covered:  Government, Geography and History

Socials 10: Test on Chapters 8, 9, 10 on June 7th

Many who did not write the Chapter 7 Test have only this week to complete assignments either in the morning before school or at lunch!  Remember June 6th is the last day for all Term 3 assignments and test rewrites!

Updated marks now available on Moodle

Term 3 updated marks are now posted on Moodle for Socials 10 and Socials 11.

Students must ensure they have completed their unit assignments in order to be eligible to write their unit tests!  You must complete assignments in room 113 and hand them in directly to Mrs. Kwon.  You can do this in the mornings before school (~7:30am) and during lunch hour.

Student who are not  completing Term 3 assignments/tests will be given an I-Report  with an end date of June 6, 2011.
