On the Tofino trip there will be “down time” where you will be able to get together with your Jigsaw Group to go over the three chapters.  It will be up to your group to decided when and where.

COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE with your JIGSAW GROUP!  You are on different buses, taking part in different activities!  

This Jigsaw group assignment is to be completed before we come back to class on Monday, September 28th.

Suggested possible times to meet:

• during the ferry trips
• during/after dinner time
• if something on the itinerary is cancelled or rained out
• You and your group are expected to carve out time to complete this assignment
• AT THE SAME TIME adhere to the expectations and responsibilities of the trip

Your group may opt to meet three times – once for each chapter…or for a longer period of time to go over all three chapters at one meeting (probably more difficult to do).  It is up to you and your group to come to a decision.

You or your group members may feel the need to meet again to go over or clarify/refresh the content…you are not limited in the number of times your group meets.  Just keep track of what happens during your meet ups, who is in attendance, for how long and what was discussed.

Remember in your write ups during the Tofino trip:

• YOU ARE EVALUATING YOUR PEERS regarding THEIR preparedness, knowledge and ability to relay pertinent information.  You should keep notes of what they are covering and write a reflection/notes on your evaluation of their sessions.   This is to be submitted next week.
• YOU ARE BEING EVALUATED by your peers regarding your preparedness, knowledge and ability to relay pertinent information.  You should to keep notes of what you are covering and a self evaluation of yourself.  This is to be submitted next week. REFLECT on YOURSELF  How do you think you are doing?  Apply the same standards and expectations that are in place for Mini Socials 10 and your peer evals.  Write up notes on yourself and to what extent you are meeting these standards. Again, to be submitted next week when you are back in class.
• Keep track of when and where your group is meeting and what is covered.  Evaluate the quality of the time/s spent going through the material…write it down as it will be asked for when you return
• At the end of the week: each person should have a copy of Chapters 11, 12 and 13 notes.  You should be writing any questions, answers and additional information into the notes as the jigsaw groups are going through the material.

Next week, in class, I expect to receive:

• Self evaluation (completed in class along with your reflections made during the week)
• Peer evaluations  (completed in class along with your reflections during the week)
• Record of meetings and what was covered from EACH person…you are to keep your own records

This activity is part of reviewing and studying for your test on Thursday, October 1st!

If there are any issues…you must let me know in your write ups during the week and we will deal with them when you return.

Reminders regarding notes:

• We are using the 2nd Edition textbook
• Formatting — thinking about what is important, categorizing the information.
• Leave space for additional notes and addendum (Cornell notes)
• Notes should be handwritten neatly in ink because you will be sharing out your set of notes… if you want to type…please come a see me asap.

You are becoming the expert teacher of your assigned chapter.  Be prepared to go over i.e. teach and highlight what students should know regarding the Geography Unit Test at the end of the month.  Use the resources you have (vocab list, worksheets, in class discussions) to help prepare.

Workbooks are available during FIT…
