IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
*Please note: Insufficient Evidence (IE) Reports:
Students and families of semester 2 classes should have received an email regarding: course outline and expectations.
They files are also available on your Teams channel.
Everyone should have received a booklet at the end of P3 yesterday. If you do not have a copy there is an electronic copy on your Teams channel.
Information that sent out yesterday to JO families:
Background: Semester turnaround builds on inspiring work done by JO staff that my son benefited from when he was a student at this school: it is a series of workshop and fieldtrip experiences that bring students together in cross grade groups and provide opportunities to experience different learning opportunities.
What happens? Students choose any 6 sessions to attend. Students sign up for their sessions and make a note of the session time and venue. If they choose a field trip, they pick up the forms, have these signed by you, and returned by Tuesday 21 January to the office.
Mandatory sessions: Focus on online sexual exploitation (on Thursday 23rd) and Bhangra (Friday, for grade 8 and 9 students)
How can you help? Please check in with your emerging adult (teenager/child) and encourage them to attend sessions! As you can see, there are a wide variety of possibilities … from introduction to town planning, to identity, to self-defense, career exploration, financial management, post-secondary transitions … etc. And if you/your family have ideas for other sessions please don’t hesitate to email your thoughts and feedback to me/
Cafeteria and district turnaround days? The Cafeteria will be open serving regular meals on the 23rd and 24th. Limited service will be available on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28th. These are district incomplete and catchup days: regular school is not in session- students who need additional support to ensure academic success will be asked in by teachers.
Bell schedule? On the 23rd and 24th we will be following a Wednesday bell schedule– there will be no FIT on the 23rd and 24th.
