DPAC April update & resource links

DPAC’s April executive meeting (key items):

  • DPAC adopted a resolution on the VSB Land and Asset Strategy, advocating for its inclusion in VSB’s Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP). The Land and Asset Strategy is the policy document that guides how VSB deals with its lands and buildings (including decisons to rent or sell land). In the past, it has not been shared with Trustees or stakeholders including parents. Including the Land and Asset Strategy in the LRFP will make decisions about seismic upgrades, rebuilding schools, renting and selling land more transparent and VSB appears to be willing to move in this direction.
  • DPAC gathered information from its survey of parents on secondary school reopening and is organizing it into a report to share with Trustees and the VSB working group.
  • DPAC passed a motion against increasing density in classrooms and in support of more online learning due to concerns about the 3rd wave of COVID.
