SS 10 – First Nations Current Events Project – Ms. Cleaver

How have the relations between First Nations (Metis) and Europeans shaped Canada?

The purpose of this project is to connect past events, relations, and government policies to the present. In what ways has Canadian history, specifically in regards to the First Nations and Metis communities, shaped society, social norms, current movements and events at the present?

You will be working in groups of four (each group will have a different topic) and will have five blocks in the Learning Commons to do research, take notes, and collaborate with your groups members to create a mini documentary or report about the current event/issue your group has chosen.

Here is a copy of the project: First Nations Current Events

Important information: Each group must cite a minimum of 4 sources; two must be from a database such as CPIQ, and two must be articles with First Nations/Metis perspectives.

Also, all group members must contribute to the research, but each group only needs to hand in ONE Works Cited. We have a lot of really helpful information for you on how to create an excellent Works Cited. Click on the link above (in the menu) called WORKS CITED, where you will find information on how to use Easybib, Works Cited samples, and more!! Please ask Ms. Parungao if you have any questions.
