Foods 9/10 – Cultural Cuisine – Ms. Lee/Ms. Chong

Welcome to the Foods 9/10 page! Here you will find very useful information to help you with your project.

Here is a copy of your assignment: Cultural Cuisine Project Outline/Rubric

You will be using Prezi for this assignment. Please create a new Prezi, then choose the Map Template. Once in the edit mode, please delete all the circles and lines from the template, then find your chosen country on the map. Don’t forget a title! In order to work on the prezi together you need to “Share” it. The share button is located in the top right hand corner of the screen. Simply enter your group member’s emails, making sure they are listed as editors (not viewers).

Some sources of information:

Culturegrams: this is an awesome resource! Find your chosen country, either by typing the name in the search box or by using the map. Look at the various headings on the left side bar (Diet, etc.) as well as the tab labelled Recipes on the right hand side. You may be able to find a large amount of your information from this resource.

For images, please use Google images. You can find images through Prezi, however it does not give the source (the website) of the image. This is very important, so instead we suggest you do an online search, copy the image to your desktop, then in Prezi use the insert image function. You will need to resize and move the image. Also, you will need the address of the website the image is from, so either enter it into Easybib right away or copy the address into a word doc to refer to later.

General Google search: this is fine for recipes, etc.

**please remember that you need to cite all your sources; Culturegrams, images, cookbooks, and any other websites.

Works Cited: each group is required to submit a Works Cited (work 4 marks). We suggest you use Easybib, which is really, really easy. There is a tab at the top called “All 59 Options“. Please choose from that list when citing an image (see below).

To cite an image from Google images, choose “Digital Image”

To cite Culturegrams, choose Database, then click on the arrow to the right of What kind of database article are you citing? and select Article published by a database (pick this if unsure). You should be directed to the correct form, but if not then choose Manual Entry. For Article Title, use the title given at the top of the page (i.e. Republic of the Philippines) and leave the author field blank. Type Culturegrams into the Database field and choose the appropriate title from the list. For Provider, type Proquest. The Electronic publication date is 2014, then choose Today’s date for Date accessed.

***Of utmost importance is the very last step with Easybib. When you and your group members have entered and checked over all the citations, then it’s time to print. To do this, choose Export or Print from the blue box, then Print as Word Doc. Download the document, then you are all done! Do not do any more editing, as all the spacing, indentations, title, etc. are all exactly as they should be. If you need to insert another citation, go back to your list of citations and enter it there. All the changes will be made automatically.

Remember, if you have any questions please ask either your teacher or one of the Teacher Librarians, Ms. Parungao or Mrs. Montroy.
