ATLAS Masterclass – April 4th

What is Masterclass?

Every year, ten thousand high school students in almost 200 universities or research centers from 50 different countries come together to unravel the mysteries of particle physics in the Particle Physics Masterclass. Participate in lectures from leading physics researchers, a live video conference with the ATLAS control room in Switzerland, and tours of the research facilities. Students will be able to experience what it is like to be a particle physicist by analyzing real data from the ATLAS project. At the end of the day, like all international research collaborations, students will join in a video conference with other Masterclass sites for discussion and combine their results.

TRIUMF has partnered with Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria to bring the Masterclass experience to high school students in BC. The events will be hosted by the local scientists involved in the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN.
