eMentoring is a free 8-week program that pairs girls in high schools across BC with female role models in science, tech, engineering and math careers.Students and their mentors are sent weekly discussion questions, covering topics such as their career path, post-secondary life, work environments, finances, work/life balance, and what to do with your degree.
Although women make up over half the population, they are a small minority of the professionals in math, science, engineering and technology careers. The reasons for under representation of women are complex, but one strong factor is that young women lack the necessary role models and encouragement to pursue the required education. With eMentoring, we hope to empower girls towards a future in STEM.
