Writers’ Exchange – Student Volunteer Mentors

The Writers’ Exchange is looking for student volunteers to join them as literacy mentors for their winter program from January to March.  Mentors work one-on-one or in small groups with kids (ages 6 to 13) to help them read picture books and graphic novels, encourage their creativity during crafts and writing time and make sure that all kids leave each session knowing how awesome they are.  As an enthusiastic, committed literacy mentor, you make it possible for us to fulfill our mission: get inner-city kids excited about reading and writing!

Student volunteers must be 16 years or older, be able to commit to the same weekly 2 hours after school shift (3 to 5 pm) for at least the full term.  Most of all be passionate about children’s literacy, have fun and not afraid to be be a little wacky!
