Pearl Mandarin is looking for student volunteers to help out with their classes on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 11:15 am at Hillcrest Community Centre, 4575 Clancy Loranger Way starting January 2018.   They are looking for students who are fluent in Mandarin and English and if you have an interested in a career in teaching, this would be a great opportunity for you.

Vancouver International Children’s Festival – Key Volunteer Positions

Writers’ Exchange – Student Volunteer Mentors

The Writers’ Exchange is looking for student volunteers to join them as literacy mentors for their winter program from January to March.  Mentors work one-on-one or in small groups with kids (ages 6 to 13) to help them read picture books and graphic novels, encourage their creativity during crafts and writing time and make sure that all kids leave each session knowing how awesome they are.  As an enthusiastic, committed literacy mentor, you make it possible for us to fulfill our mission: get inner-city kids excited about reading and writing!

Student volunteers must be 16 years or older, be able to commit to the same weekly 2 hours after school shift (3 to 5 pm) for at least the full term.  Most of all be passionate about children’s literacy, have fun and not afraid to be be a little wacky!

Mount Seymour Bear Cub Program – Student Ski Volunteers

Mount Seymour Resorts is accepting high school student volunteers and will train them to become ski instructors.  Students will spend the winter working with their Bear Cub Program skiers, aged 4 to 6 and who are either venturing out on their first sliding experiences or continuing to develop their skills.  Throughout your time in the Bear Cub Program, students will work with certified instructors to run the groups and assist in all aspects of the lesson.  During the course of the season, Mount Seymour will run additional training sessions to help prepare students for the CSIA Level 1 Exam which is recognized by the Ministry of Education and carries 2 credits.  To apply, complete the online fillable application on their website at the bottom of the page.  There will be a mandatory training session on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Volunteer Opportunities for Bright Nights 2017 in Stanley Park
